Kate Barss is a writer living in Toronto. Her work has appeared in Tin House, Catapult, The Hairpin, The Awl, Taddle Creek and others. She has been a finalist for prizes from The Iowa Review, The Montreal International Poetry Prize, Dzanc Books, The Master's Review, The Fiddlehead, Room Magazine, Prism International, Event Magazine and others. One of her stories appeared on Wigleaf's List of Top 50 Short Fictions of 2018. She has been awarded residencies and fellowships from The Banff Centre, the Ontario Heritage Trust, and the Vermont Studio Centre. She’s been the recipient of literary grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council. She is a creative writing instructor through Catapult magazine and the University of Guelph Open Education program. She is represented by Willenfield Literary.
